HSG-IMIT is a non-profit R&D organization, founded in 1955, based in and supported by the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. The strongly industry oriented R&D activities at HSG-IMIT focus on system developments using micro system as well as microelectronic technology mainly in the field of medical, telecommunication, energy harvesting and industrial applications.
HSG-IMIT is designing self sustained systems and kinetic energy harvester since 2004 and has significant experience in modeling, simulation and optimization of mechanical, magnetic, piezoelectric and electrostatic aspects and related electronics of energy harvester components for energy autonomous systems. The institute has the knowledge and equipment to acquire the necessary environmental data to start a development and to perform testing/ verification under confined conditions and by field data replication.
Further activities include mixed signal circuits for micro-system applications for energy-autonomous systems, including battery-management for the preservation and distribution of the harvested energy. Therefore low loss DC-DC Converters and Low-Dropout Voltage Regulators (LDO) are major R&D topics. For the implementation of intelligent power-save modes, digital circuits are developed which can operate in sub-threshold region. This allows very low supply voltages which guarantees minimum power dissipation.
