Research in new sensors and measurement methods based on electrical impedance variations, and in electronic interfaces for signal conditioning and processing. Particular emphasis on macrosensors based on low-cost technologies, autonomous and smart sensors, sensor networks, analogue signal processing, data acquisition systems, impedance spectroscopy and tomography, noise and interference reduction in instrumentation, non-invasive physiological measurements and biotelemetry. Technology transfer in the fields of sensor technology and measurement systems.

Recent focus on energy harvesting systems: solar harvesting, circuitry to transfer the energy from the transducer to the storage unit, MPPT techniques, hybrid storage units (batteries and supercapacitors), management and measure of the harvested energy.

Manel Gasulla received the Ingeniero (MEng) and Doctor Ingeniero (PhD) degrees in Telecommunication from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain, in 1992 and 1999, respectively.
Since 1993 he has been with the UPC, where he is an associate professor, engaged in teaching on Analog Electronics and Electronic Instrumentation. In 2001-2002 he was a visiting post-doc at the Electronic Instrumentation Laboratory, Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands. His research interests include capacitive sensors, sensor interfaces, wireless sensor networks, and energy harvesting circuits and methods for low-power autonomous sensors.
