SmarTech First is an engineering design consultancy. We provide leading businesses and institutions with numerical solutions and advice on smart sensors and energy technology. SmarTech First works closely with ECS Partners at the University of Southampton to further ultrasonic and green energy research. This relationship allows SmarTech First access to cutting-edge facilities, which empowers it to deliver engineered solutions to meet the challenges faced by our customers. We develop smart sensors based on ultrasonic technology as well as low-power devices equipped with technology that allows them to generate their own power instead of relying on batteries or an external power supply.

SmarTech First provides electronic, software and product customisation services from initial concept to volume production. By testing the performance of the design through simulation and then evaluating the prototypes, our clients will gain advantages in terms of minimising risk and saving time and money.

Biography
Dr Ghaithaa Manla holds a PhD in Energy Harvesting (Green Energy), an MSc in Microelectronics and BSc in Electronics. Her core competences include the designing, numerical modelling, building prototypes and testing of piezo-polymer and piezo-ceramic devices. Her PhD topic was the use of piezoelectric materials to allow low-powered devices to extract energy from the surrounding environment and thus replace the batteries. She worked as an ultrasonic transducer designer, where she gained experience in designing, building, testing and measuring the acoustic response of ultrasonic sensors.
