Biography
I received a M.Eng in Avionic Systems and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bristol in 2004 and 2009, respectively.

My PhD was part of the EPSRC SUPERGEN II PLE program. I developed a design framework for a magnetically sprung electromagnetic resonant generator which would convert mechanical vibrations from the environment into electrical energy. The developed framework was used to investigate the systems non-linear performance.

During my role as a research assistant at the University of Bristol I investigated an energy source for a wireless system monitoring nuclear waste, stored in an underground repository, after a period of several decades. The research was part of the Keeping the Nuclear Option Open EPSRC program and involved both bench-top and theoretical work. Initial work developed a design specification and a trade-off study between potential solutions. The chosen solution was a mechanical battery that released the stored energy into an electrical form when required. This work was recently reported in the New Scientist and Dutch magazine 'De Ingenieur'.

I am now a research officer at Staffordshire University, continuing my work in energy harvesting.
